TRIPURA

Tucked away in a corner of northeastern India, Tripura joined the Indian republic in 1948. Tripura is mainly a hilly territory with altitudes varying from 50 to 3080 ft above sea level, though the major population of the state lives in the plains.

Agartala, the picturesque capital offers beautiful palaces, gardens, hills, temples and lakes, scenic Tirthamulkh with its lakes and waterfalls. The tribal with a rich and varied culture, belongs mainly to the Reang, Chakma, Halam and Usai communities. Music and dance are an integral part of their lives. Garia dances held for the prosperity of the people. Tripura is best visited after the southwest monsoons in October. Day 01 : Kolkata-Agartala Fly to Agartala, the capital of Tripura which is an ancient land of mysterious past is located in the North Eastern region of India. 60% of the total area in Tripura is under hills and forest, and in this panoramic tiny state is inhabited largely by 19 tribes living in the state. Overnight Hotel, Agartala.

 

Day 02 : Agartala - Unakoti (178 KMS) Drive to Unakoti, situated at a distance of about 178 km. from Agartala. The stone and rock cut images on the hill slopes belongs to seventh to ninth centuries. The Unakoti means one less than a crore (10 million). The rocky walls, the central Siva head gigantic Ganesh figures deserve special mention which is about 30 feet high. It is the largest bas-relief sculpture in India. Overnight Hotel Unakoti.

 

Day 03 : Unakoti - Kumarghat - Agartala Morning drive back to Agartala (178kms). En-route visit Kumarghat (38kms). Overnight Hotel, Agartala.

 

Day 04 : Agartala - Neermahal - Udaipur Neermahal is the water palace, built in 1930 by Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya as summer resort is located at a distance of about 53 km. from Agartala. It is one of the good combinations of assimilation between Hindu and Muslim architectural design. It is located in the centre of a lake covering an area of 5.3 sq. km. This spectacular edifice still reflects the wave of its past glory and castes its spell on the mind of the visiting tourists. Overnight Hotel, Udaipur.

 

Day 05 : Udaipur - Agartala Udaipur is known for its famous Tripura Sundari Temple, believed to be one of the earliest Hindu shrines in this part of the country. Popularly it is known as Matabari. After lunch drive back to Agartala (58kms). Overnight at Hotel.

 

Day 06 : Agartala - Jamphui Hills Early morning drive to Jamphui Hills (250kms) enroute sightseeing. Overnight Tourist Lodge, Jamphui Hills.

 

Day 07 : Jamphui Hills Full Day explore the hills. Overnight Tourist Lodge.

 

Day 08 : Jamphui Hills - Agartala Morning drive back to Agartala. Post lunch drop them to a point from where they will be entering Bangladesh.

 

Day 09 : Agartala - Kolkata Transfer to airport for onward journey tour ends.
