TAWANG Culture tour
Tawang, the land of Monpasis a district of Arunachal Pradesh situated at a height of 10,000 ft from the sea level. It is believed that, the name Tawang was given by Mera Lama in the 17th century. Tawang is famous for its natural beauty, which attracts and fascinates the traveler. The place is a beautifully landscaped hill station in the Arunachal Pradesh State in the northeastern part of India. The Gelukpa sect is predominantly found in the region, which closely resembles other Tibetan sects.
Tawang is located at an altitude of 3500 m above the sea level in Arunachal Pradesh. It covers the area of 2085 sq km and is surrounded by Tibet in the north, Bhutan in the southwest, Kameng in the east and is separated from the west by Sela ranges.
The landscape of Tawang assumes an altogether new look during snowfall in the months of December and January. Tawang is also known for Buddhist influences and has one of the biggest monasteries of India
Duration : 10 days
Day 01 :: Arrive Delhi / Calcutta and transfer to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 02 :: Delhi / Calcutta to Guwahati and drive to Tezpur for an overnight stay.
Day 03 :: Drive to Dirang (195 kms). Enroute visit Tipi Orchid Centre, a glass house with over 7,500 Orchids and Shertukpen tribal village at Rupa.
Day 04 :: Dirang: All day sight-seeing including Dirang Monpa tribal villages, Hot Water Spring, Sangti valley, Li-ung Gonpa and Kalchakra Monastery. Overnight stay in hotel.
Day 05 :: Drive to Tawang (145 km), enroute visit sela pass (13700 ft.). overnight stay in hotel.
Day 06 :: Full day visit to Tawang Monastery which is more than 350 years old. Also visit Ani Gonpa monastery of Nuns and typical Tawang Monpa tribal village.
Day 07 :: Full day at Tawang, visit birth place of H.H. the 6th Dalai Lama, Penga Teng Tso Lake and Crafts Emporium centre which produces very fine woolen carpets and Tawang Memorial.
Day 08 :: Drive to Bomdila (180 km). See waterfalls in Jang, also visit Indo-China war memorial at Jaswant garh.
Day 09 :: Drive to Eco Camp (120 km). On the way visit Bugun tribal village.
Day 10 :: Transfer to Guwahati for Delhi / Calcutta.
